Professor Cindy Farquhar

I completed my medical degree at the University of Auckland and then undertook specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Auckland. I also worked in London at Guy’s Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital. I returned to New Zealand in 1989 and have worked at National Women’s Hospital and the University of Auckland since that time. I am currently the Postgraduate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Auckland University. In 1998 I attained certification as a subspecialist in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and have been involved in training and assessment of trainees in fertility services since that time.

I see patients for private specialist consultations and surgery with menstrual disorders, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and infertility. I operate both in public at Auckland City Hospital and privately at Mercy Ascot Hospital for major cases. My day surgery is at Auckland City Surgical Services in Remuera Road, Auckland. If my fertility patients require assisted reproduction then I refer to Repromed also at 105 Remuera Road, Auckland. I do not see patients for colposcopy or urinary incontinence but I do see patients for prolapse.

I was appointed the part-time specialist at the National Women’s Hospital and commenced private practice. My special interests are colposcopy and infertility. Professor Neil Johnson

I trained as a Gynaecologist in the UK and New Zealand, having previously trained in General Practice in the UK. I have further subspecialised in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility. My special interests include endometriosis, infertility, menstrual disorders and colposcopy, in addition to general gynaecology. A background in General Practice brings a strong patient focused element to my practice.

I bring a strong evidence-based element to my gynaecology and fertility practice and am involved with training and research at a national and international level.

I have served on the board of the World Endometriosis Society and I am the President Elect of the World Endometriosis Society 2014 to 2017. I am also on the board of Endometriosis New Zealand. I inaugurated the Australasian multi-centre research network in Infertility, Reproduction And Clinical Trials (REACT-ANZ) and the Australasian CREI Consensus Expert Panel on Trial Evidence that is constructing consensus statements in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (ACCEPT) and I am the immediate past Chair of the RANZCOG Training Committee in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility.

Dr. Karen Buckingham

MB ChB FRANZCOG Graduate Certificate in Reproductive Medine

I trained in New Zealand and the United Kingdom as a Gynaecologist, and have now been working in the area of infertility management and treatment for the past 14 years. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to use my clinical expertise to help assist couples in realising their dreams. Because I am a mother to three young children, I understand the hopes and challenges that every couple faces as they seek to start their own families. I also see patients for colposcopy and have an interest in recurrent pregnancy loss and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

Dr Tin Lok Chiu

My name is Tin Lok Chiu and I am an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist that has recently started working with Auckland Gynaecology Group. I completed medical school training at Otago in 2003, and obtained FRANZCOG in 2014. During my training, I developed a passion for advanced gynaecological surgery.

I moved to Sydney in 2013 and completed 2 fellowships at St Vincent’s Hospital and Liverpool Hospital in advanced gynaecological surgery, in particularly advanced laparoscopic surgery. Whilst in Sydney, I’ve worked with some of Sydney’s leading gynaecologists in the fields of urogynaecology, advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgery and gynaecological oncology. My advanced training has helped me gain a deeper understanding of female pelvic anatomy and techniques in managing, at times, complex cases safely and effectively.

My gynaecological interests are broad. I am interested in helping women with menstrual disorders, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic masses arising from the uterus and ovaries as well as cervical abnormalities. I also perform prophylactic removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes for women with BRCA gene inheritance, and transposition of ovaries for women that require radiation treatment for cervical cancer.

I strive to perform most of my major abdominal operations laparoscopically as this will enable women to return to normal activities as soon as possible after their procedures.

My wife and I returned to Auckland earlier this year and I currently work part time at Auckland City Hospital as well as setting up private practice at Auckland Gynaecology Group, and Shore Birth/Women’s in the North Shore.

I look forward to working with you all. Please feel me to contact me if you have any questions that I can help you with.
