Early pregnancy problems

An overview of early pregnancy problems and miscarriages

Miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy within the first 20 weeks and around 10-20% of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. More than 80% of miscarriages happen within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. An early sign of this is vaginal spotting or bleeding so if you notice this be sure to call us immediately.

Other complications to watch out for during the early stages of pregnancy include:

  • Low amniotic fluid
  • Preeclampsia
  • Premature labour
  • Placenta previa
  • Gestational diabetes

How Auckland Gynaecology can help
