An overview of Vulval disease

These are quite common in women and many of our patients see us due to a vulval disease. Within the vulva there is skin, glands and mucous membrane. There is huge potential for pathology, including psychosomatic problems. As many as 1 in 5 women experience significant vulval symptoms. The vulva is the group of external structures that comprise the female genitalia. There are many vulval diseases that can cause symptoms of genital irritation, throbbing, burning, urinary frequency, rawness, pain during sex and urinary urgency.
